My dog’s so fussy, but he actually walks over to it now.

ahhhh... no more pinning her down for nails, she does her front paws herself!!

Will it work for my dog?

If your dog is food-motivated, almost certainly. A little coaxing gets most dogs scratching in one or two short sessions — dramatic dogs may take three. Designed for front paws, where overgrowth does the most damage. And if it doesn't click in 90 days, we refund you in full.

What about back paws and dew claws?

The board is designed for front paws, where overgrowth causes the most trouble. Most dogs won't file their own back paws on it — that's honest. Front-paw filing still cuts your clipper sessions dramatically.

Specs & sizing

Real wood frame with a replaceable filing surface and a pull-out treat drawer underneath. Suits dogs roughly 10-90lbs; giant breeds will use it happily but get through sheets faster.
See images for exact measurements.

What about the back paws?

The CalmClaws™ nail scratch board also works for your dog's back paws. Simply prop up the board on the stand and lean it against a tall surface. Put treats on the tall surface for your dog to reach - their paws will scratch against the pad. Your dog may need some gentle guidance, so be patient with them.

What dog parents are saying

Brilliant for keeping dogs nails short when they dont like nail clippers etc. Also has some replacement sandpaper. I have a large dog and the sandpaper lasts a very long time b4 needing to be replaced. Highly recommend.
Pam Q.Milo's mom
She used to bolt at the sight of clippers. Two weeks with the board and she does her own front paws while I make coffee.
Jordan M.Maggie’s mom
My rescue won’t let anyone near his paws. This is the first thing in two years that hasn’t ended in a standoff.
Priya S.Ollie’s mom
Our senior dach does his fronts himself now. No more dreading the monthly wrestle he actually trots over for it.
Dan R.Buster’s dad
Didn’t expect a board to fix nail time. The treat drawer is the whole trick she thinks it’s a game.
Aisha K.Nala’s mom
Quiet, no quick to catch and he likes it. Wish we’d found it before all the vet-visit trims.

Before you ask

Questions people actually ask

Will it work on back paws?

Most dogs file their front nails happily and need a hand with the back ones. Prop the board flat on the floor for rear paws.

How long does it take to teach?

Most dogs get the idea in one or two short sessions. Treat, let them paw at it, treat again. Never push the paw down for them.

What if my dog ignores it?

That usually means the sessions are too long or the treat isn't worth it. Two minutes and something smelly beats ten minutes and a biscuit.

When do I replace the sandpaper?

When it stops feeling gritty under your thumb. Heavy users get a few months a sheet.
